In the early 1900s, the U.S. Government discovered 8 billion pounds of coal buried on ancestral lands; as a result, thousands of Navajo were killed and their flocks decimated. Nikyle Begay is a non-binary Navajo shepherd and weaver determined to preserve their way of life. Each day, they care for their livestock as they would a family. Through raising their herds - and weaving Navajo wool - Nikyle has gained spiritual and emotional nourishment.
