Fleeing Honduras in fear for their lives, an undocumented grandfather is suspected of being a terrorist or possibly a sex trafficker when he swims across the Rio Grande river and arrives in McAllen, Texas with his teenage granddaughter. Placed in harsh conditions at a detention center, the grandfather pleads for asylum and discovers his granddaughter has mysteriously gone missing.

About the Playwright PATRICIA WEST- DEL RUTH is a screenwriter, playwright, director, actor and film producer. As a young actress she appeared on General Hospital, Hill Street Blues and QuickSilver with Kevin Bacon while studying screenwriting at UCLA with industry professionals. She garnered four Telly Awards for producing two industry related shows called Cinema Scene and Creative Café in Southern California. For four decades, she has managed the two-time Emmy award winning career of her husband Thomas Del Ruth ASC as well. His credits include THE WEST WING, ER, THE BREAKFAST CLUB and many more. Theatre audiences know Patricia’s directorial achievements with YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, VENUS IN FUR and her own critically acclaimed premiere of FADE IN,which she also wrote. As an actor in the Coachella Valley her credits include KENTUCKY FRIED FUNERAL(Desert TheatreWorks),KING LEAR, THE DRESSER and HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE (Green Room Theatre). Patricia is most grateful for this opportunity to work with Encore Theatre District and dedicates this play to all families near and far, especially her own.
