We LOVE Alex Cox. And there are few actors capable of the kind of transformation Gary Oldman undergoes for this role. Totally mesmerizing! Heartbreaking too, though Cox, we think, is also keen not to allow the tragedy to slip into some sort of cheap mythology. It’s an extremely fine line, and Cox walks it with characteristic dexterity and a proper dose of cynicism.
Sid: “This is just a rough patch. Things'll be much better when we get to America, I promise.”
Nancy: “We're in America. We've been here a week. New York is in America…”
