Special Guests

Oct. 15: Nelda Linsk

Nov 19: Brian Ellis

Nov 19: Leo Zahn

If ever there was an iconic photograph that captures the Palm Spring life, past and present, it is Slim Aarons “Poolside Gossip”. Featured in the photograph is the lavish Kaufmann House property and society socialites Nelda Linsk (right), Helen (Dzo Dzo) seated left, and actress Lita Baron (approaching). From fashion model, to women’s wear manufacturer, to desert socialite, to resident realtor, Nelda has spent many a fabulous moment with Kirk and Anne Douglas, Mary and Jack Benny and, of course, with the one and only Frank Sinatra.

Some Maitre d’s are hard to forget, and the good ones become friends and close associates with those they serve. Such is the case with the iconic Melvyn’s Restaurant Maitre d Brian Ellis. With 45 years (1975 - 2020) of serving and greeting guests and celebrities at Melvyn’s, Brian has a story or two to tell about Frank Sinatra, Steve McQueen and Ally McGraw, John Compton Harvey, da Mob, Arnold Schwarzenegger and being in the presence of seven Presidents of the United States.

Director/Cinematographer Leo Zahn has over 600 national and international TV spots, including the Palm Springs favorite “Sinatra in Palm Springs”. Leo spent many hours gathering footage and interviews to present the life and times of Frank Sinatra back in the day.

Dec 12: Jim Ullo
Sometimes it is a date and time that connect people for life. In Jim’s case, his father Jim Sr., shared the same birthday as Frank Sinatra, and each year he and Frank would get together on their birthdays to celebrate and reminisce. After Jim’s dad worked for Frank for many years, and lived on his estate in Los Angeles, Frank proposed that they open a restaurant together. They opened La Dolce Vita in Beverly Hills which became a major watering hole for the stars. As a teenager Jim worked as a valet there and met everyone. Frank called him “Junior Baby” and he had some wild experiences which he will share on his dad’s and Frank’s birthday.
